The new stator for one unit in Ffestiniog pump storage plant, which has been stacked and winded on site, is now tested and ready for installation later this year. The plant which is located in Wales with 4 units and a total output of 360MW is owned by First Hydro and was taken in to operation 1963.
The complete new motor/generator stator rated 95/106MVA, 428rpm and 16kV is scheduled to replace one of the existing stators during a 7 week outage later this year. First Hydro Company is one of the UK's most dynamic electricity producers, responsible for the management and operation of the pumped storage plants at Dinorwig and Ffestiniog in the Snowdonia region of Wales.
